George Zettlein went 9 solid innings and Dick Higham had 3 base hits and 2 RBI
as the Chicago White Stockings defeated the St. Louis R team by a score of 11
to 2 at Compton Ave Park.

Chicago set the tone of the game in the first inning as they pummeled St.
Louis R for 8 runs on 10 hits.  That was all Zettlein(3-3) needed.  Chicago
finished with 18 hits in the victory.  

Joe Blong(2-2) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 11 runs in 9 innings of
work.  'He came out with good stuff,' Jimmy Wood said about Zettlein. 'He
threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
