The game started off with Boston taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 3 runs on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Spalding who
electrified South End Grounds when he delivered a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners. Boston bats were hot in the 3rd inning with 6 runs on 5 hits
