Shortstop Frank Fennelly had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at League Park where the
Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the New York Metropolitans in 10 innings 10 to
9.

The game was deadlocked at 9 after nine full innings.  Cincinnati won the game
in the 10th inning.  Kid Baldwin drew a walk.  Charley Jones stepped up next
and he reached on an error.  John Reilly then was hit by a pitch.  Fennelly
came up and he lined a single resulting in an exciting win for Cincinnati and
a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Cincinnati banged out
14 hits on the afternoon.  

Baldwin(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Chief
Roseman(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief.  He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
