Billy Sullivan had 2 base hits as the Chicago White Sox bested the
Philadelphia Athletics 4 to 1 at Columbia Park.

Chicago had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 2
base hits.  After an out was recorded, Freddy Parent began the rally when he
lined a base-hit.  Lee Tannehill stepped up next and he was hit by a pitch.
Sullivan then stroked a single plating a run.  Ed Walsh was up next and he
reached on an error.  Patsy Dougherty came to the plate and drew a walk
bringing in another run.  Fielder Jones added to the rally and would hit into
a force play scoring the final run of the inning.  Chicago had 7 hits for the
afternoon.  

Walsh(3-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 and 1/3 innings. Walsh was
helped out by Moxie Manuel who recorded his 2nd save.  Harry Krause(1-1) was
charged with the loss in relief.  He allowed Chicago 3 runs in 2 innings of
work.
