First baseman Kitty Bransfield had 3 base hits and 4 RBI as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics topped the Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 12 to 7 at
West Side Park.

Philadelphia-AL scored 5 runs in the 5th inning when they had 5 base hits.
The key offensive moment was provided by Bransfield who deflated the spirits
of the home town crowd when he doubled plating two runs.  Philadelphia-AL
ended up with 19 hits for the game while Chicago-NL had 15.  

Kaiser Wilhelm(4-1) went 7 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Eddie
Plank(0-8) took the loss.  He saw his ERA jump from 4.39 to 5.31 as gave up 9
runs in 6 innings.  

Wth the win Philadelphia-AL now has a record of 17-10. Lee Palmer was unhappy
with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep losing games' he said.
'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
