In a game at Washington Park the Chicago Whales got by the Brooklyn ballclub
by the score of 4 to 1.
Chicago erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
plating 3 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Al Wickland was the
sparkplug when he doubled. One out later, Jack Farrell stepped in and he
drew a walk. Farrell took his lead and swiped second. Fred Beck was up next
and he drew a walk to load the bases. William Fischer stepped into the box
and tripled plating three runs. Neither team was able to score until the 7th
inning.
Dave Black(2-0) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Black
got help from Rankin Johnson who was credited with his 1st save. Bill
Upham(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. Chicago scored big getting 3
runs off him in 2 innings.
