Hal Newhouser(4-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington.  He
went 8 and 2/3 innings surrendering 11 hits and 6 walks.  Despite losing,
Cleveland out-hit Washington 11 to 7.  

Newhouser got help from Bob Chesnes who was credited with his 1st save.  Bob
Lemon(2-3) took the loss.  He saw his ERA jump from 3.29 to 3.69 as gave up 5
runs in 8 innings.
