Doc Newton(2-2) gave a fine effort for Cincinnati. He was reached for 9 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down the rally. Newton got relief help from Jack Sutthoff who gained credit for his 1st save. Frank Kitson(3-1) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.
