Center fielder Jimmy Barrett had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Palace Of The Fans
as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia-NL Phillies in 11 innings by the
count of 6 to 5.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Cincinnati
prevailed in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, John Ganzel started
the rally when he doubled.  Tom McCreery followed and he hit a single.  One
out later, Sam Mertes then stroked a one-base hit which scored a run.  Mike
Donlin came up and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Barrett came up to bat
and lined a base-hit making Cincinnati the victors to the delight of the home
town faithful.  Cincinnati had 14 hits for the afternoon while
Philadelphia-NL had 11.  

Highball Wilson(3-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Fred
Mitchell(0-6) was the loser.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 3
walks in 10 and 2/3 innings.
