Rube Waddell whitewashed Chicago as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Chicago White Sox 3 to 0 at Columbia Park. Waddell(5-2) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Chicago hitters. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.66 to 2.31. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that point. Nick Altrock(2-3) ended up with the loss. He surrendered only 3 runs and 5 hits in 8 innings. 'It felt really nice to get this win,' Waddell said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
