Casey Patten(3-0) got credit for the win at American League Park as the
Washington Nationals shutout the St. Louis Browns in 13 innings 1 to
0.

Neither team scored in the first nine innings.  Washington won the hard fought
contest in the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Jim Delahanty ripped
a base-hit.  Delahanty stole second with some aggressive base running.  Ollie
Pickering then stroked a one-base hit.  Pickering took second on the throw.
Gabby Street was up next and he stroked a single.  Jerry Freeman came up to
bat and singled giving Washington the victory as 4,832 happy fans celebrated
wildly.  Washington had 8 hits for the afternoon.  

Rube Waddell(3-3) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 12 and 2/3 innings
allowing 8 hits and 7 walks.
