Harry Gaspar completed the game without help from the bullpen and shortstop
Tom Downey had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Boston Doves by a score of 8 to 2 at South End Grounds.

Boston was unable to climb back into it after Cincinnati went ahead for good
in the top of the 3rd inning plating an isolated run.  Cincinnati had a total
of 13 hits for the game.  

Gaspar(2-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Kirby
White(1-1) was the loser.  He was touched for 11 hits and 9 walks in 7
innings.
