Center fielder Bob Bescher had 5 hits and scored 3 times at Forbes Field where
the New York Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 11 innings 4 to 3.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. New York was victorious in the 11th
inning. Bescher banged out a single. George Burns next to the plate and he
laced a one-base hit. Art Fletcher then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run.
Pittsburgh went down without a fight in the bottom of the 11th.
Rube Schauer(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Marty
O'Toole(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and no
