WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Jim Hearn robbed Phil Rizzuto of a base hit.

Jim Hearn had an impressive outing at Shibe Park as the Cleveland Indians,
running on all cylinders, ripped the Philadelphia Phillies by a large 16 to 1
margin.

The game started off with Cleveland taking the lead in the first when they
scored 6 runs on 5 hits. That early run support was enough for Hearn(3-1)
and Cleveland. Cleveland provided plenty of action in the 1st inning which
saw them plate 6 runs on 5 hits. Cleveland kept the pressure on throughout
the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Curt Simmons(0-6) absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the Cleveland
offense and allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
