20,913 fans watched an exciting game at Wrigley Field. The Chicago-NL Cubs
topped the Washington Nationals by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Cliff Chambers(5-3) gave Chicago-NL a solid outing. He surrendered 9 hits and
2 walks in 8 innings. Washington threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.
Chambers got help from Howie Judson who was credited with his 4th save. Jim
Konstanty(0-3) was given the loss in relief.
Gordy Renaud was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
