TEAM RISP- Dodgers: 12 for 19 Pirates: 5 for 11

Vic Wertz had 4 hits and 8 RBI as the Brooklyn Dodgers really laid it on the
Pittsburgh Pirates 20 to 9.

Wertz was in a groove all evening. The Pittsburgh fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in
the 4th inning, singled which scored a run in the 5th inning, lined a
one-base hit bringing in two baserunners in the 7th inning and tripled
plating three runs in the 7th inning. Brooklyn bats were very productive in
the 5th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 6 hits and the 7th inning when
they had 11 runs on 10 hits. Brooklyn had 21 hits for the game and
Pittsburgh had 12.

The win was credited to Curt Simmons(4-1) who went 8 innings allowing 9 runs.
Ned Garver(2-1) was the loser. He gave up 9 runs in 5 innings of work.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' Wertz said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
