TEAM RISP- Athletics: 9 for 27 Red Stockings: 4 for 15

Levi Meyerle allowed Al Wright to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and left fielder George Hall had 6 hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia
Athletics defeated the Boston Red Stockings by a score of 16 to 12 at South
End Grounds.

Hall was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He lined a single bringing in two baserunners in the
2nd inning, lined a base-hit in the 4th inning, laced a base-knock knocking
in a run in the 4th inning, tripled in the 6th inning, doubled in the 7th
inning and doubled in the 9th inning. Philadelphia bats were hot in the 4th
inning with 8 runs on 8 hits and the 6th inning which saw them plate 4 runs
on 5 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different innings
was still not enough for Boston to come away with the victory.

The victory went to Meyerle(1-0) who went the distance allowing 12 runs. Joe
Borden(3-4) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 21 hits
and 2 walks in 9 innings.
