It was a great finish at Robison Field as the St. Louis Browns pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 11 to 10. St. Louis scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits. Bob Caruthers started the inning off right when he doubled. After an out was recorded, Cub Stricker stepped up to the plate and he was hit by a pitch. Tony Mullane then had one get away for a wild pitch. Dick Buckley followed and he slapped a single, and an error was also committed, driving in two more baserunners. Jack Crooks stepped into the box and drew a walk. Cliff Carroll did his part to keep things going and singled to load the bases. One out later, Jack Glasscock came up and he lined a single giving St. Louis the victory and sending the 6,923 home-town fans home happy. Cincinnati was not lacking for run support as they scored in 6 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames. The win went to Jack Easton(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Mullane(8-4) was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 8 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Crooks was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
