Bob Ewing tossed a complete game as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 4 to 1 at Palace Of The Fans.

Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning plating 3 runs on 4 base hits.  John Dobbs led off the inning for
Cincinnati when he tripled.  After another out, Sam Crawford followed, but he
was set down on strikes.  George Magoon then laced a base-knock which scored
a run.  Tommy Corcoran came up and he laced a single.  Ham Iburg then had one
get away for a wild pitch.  Harry Steinfeldt added to the uprising and was
walked intentionally to load the bases.  Bill Bergen followed next and he
stroked a one-base hit driving home another two teammates.  Cincinnati
managed 11 hits in their victory.  

Ewing(2-2), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. The losing
pitcher was Iburg(3-3).  He gave up 4 runs and 11 hits in 8 innings.
