Howie Camnitz whitewashed Boston on 3 hits and Bill McKechnie hit a homerun
and had 3 RBI at South End Grounds as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the reeling
Boston Rustlers by the count of 8 to 0.

Camnitz(5-1) was on top of his game.  He surrendered only 3 hits and no walks
in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.25 to 1.87.  Pittsburgh totaled 18 hits
on the afternoon.  

Al Mattern(3-4) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 17 hits and 2 walks
in 8 innings.  'Camnitz pitched a gem of a game', Fred Tenney recounted.  'He
kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
