Earl Hamilton pitched 9 strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
floundering Detroit Tigers by a score of 9 to 0 at Redland Field.

Cincinnati set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring a single run
utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Bert Daniels drew a walk.
One out later, Fred Snodgrass came to the plate and drew a walk. Art Devlin
then singled scoring the run. That scoring would be all that was needed.
Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning.

Hamilton(4-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Hub
Perdue(6-5) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits
and 5 walks in 5 innings.

'He came out with good stuff,' Rob Hickok said about Hamilton. 'He threw the
ball good from the first pitch on.'
