At Cleveland Stadium, the Cleveland faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Virgil Trucks(2-4) finally bested his Cleveland counterpart,
Marv Grissom(1-1), by the score of 3 to 1.

Cleveland was unable to claim the lead after New York-AL went ahead in the 4th
inning scoring a single run on 2 base hits.  New York-AL had 10 hits for the
afternoon while Cleveland had 6.  

Johnny Hetki preserved the game for Trucks, recording his his 1st save.  The
losing pitcher was Grissom.  He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 6 hits and
no walks.
