WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Sam Jackson robbed Tom York of an extra base hit.

Shortstop Bill Craver had 2 base hits and John McMullin had a strong outing as
the Troy Haymakers defeated the Boston Red Stockings 9 to 2 at South End
Grounds.

Troy drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning when
they scored 2 runs on 1 hit. Troy finished with 9 hits in the victory.

McMullin(1-1) allowed 2 runs on the game. Al Spalding(1-2) took the loss. He
was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and not allowing an earned run.

McMullin was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of
the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm
felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only
hope that I can do it again next time out!'
