Sherry Magee hit one over the fence as the St. Louis-AL Browns staged a
dramatic comeback over the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 4 at
Sportsman'S Park.
St. Louis-AL scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. After
an out was recorded, Stuffy McInnis was the sparkplug when he was hit by a
pitch. Magee came next and he doubled. Jack Barry then was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Jimmy Austin was up next and he reached on
an error making St. Louis-AL the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. St. Louis-AL banged out 7 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Rube Geyer(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. The
losing pitcher was Ray Fisher(0-1) in relief. He gave up 3 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings of work.
'Wow, that was fun!', Geyer said following the game. 'Once in a while you play
a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin with!'
