Kluszewski had a big day with his bat. He laced a single in the 1st inning, blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning and lined a base-hit in the 6th inning. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Warren Hacker(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings. Hacker was helped out by Ernie Johnson who recorded his 7th save. Steve Gromek(0-3) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings. 'You have to give Cleveland credit, they fought us tough to the end' Rob Hickok said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.'
