Bill Gleason had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Jumbo McGinnis had a complete game at
Newington Park as the St. Louis Brown Stockings embarrassed the Baltimore
Orioles by the lopsided score of 27 to 2.

Gleason was a one-man wrecking crew. He slapped a one-base hit which brought
home a run in the 1st inning, tripled which was good for two runs in the 2nd
inning, lashed a single bringing in a run in the 6th inning and lined a
base-hit in the 8th inning. St. Louis kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st
inning with 6 runs on 4 hits and the 2nd inning when they had 10 runs on 9
hits. St. Louis rapped out 25 hits for the afternoon.

McGinnis(3-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Tricky
Nichols(0-3) ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 25 hits and 5
walks in 9 innings.

Gleason was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the
ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying
off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes
along.'
