Mickey Hughes was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Washington Park as the Brooklyn Bridegrooms beat the reeling
Pittsburg Alleghenys by the count of 2 to 1.

Brooklyn scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Doc Bushong
ripped a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Two outs later Hub
Collins came to bat and delivered a single scoring the run. Pittsburg
threatened in the 9th but Brooklyn was able to put down the rally.

The win was credited to Hughes(2-4) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Bill Sowders(2-3). Guy Hecker was in a sour mood after
the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this game. We
made too many mistakes.'
