The Boston Americans won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Baltimore was unable to climb back into it after Boston went ahead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning plating one baserunner on 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Jimmy Collins stroked a single. Buck Freeman stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the run. Baltimore threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Cy Young(4-2) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Frank Morrissey preserved the game for Young, recording his his 1st save. The loss was charged to Jack Dunn(1-1). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 14 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. John McGraw was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
