Christy Mathewson pitched 9 strong innings and right fielder Doc Miller
homered at American League Park where the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the
Washington Nationals by the score of 2 to 1.

The game was won by Brooklyn with a run in the top of the 9th inning.  After
an out was recorded, Miller lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'.  Brooklyn
finished with 7 hits in the victory.  

Mathewson(5-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Bill
Steele(3-4) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 2 runs and 7 hits in 9
innings.
