Clyde Milan had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Shibe Park where the St. Louis-AL
Browns beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 6 to 5.

St. Louis-AL brought 5 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning with the help
of 7 hits. That was all the offense they were to need. The pitchers took
over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.

The winning pitcher was Ray Caldwell(3-0) who allowed 5 runs in 6 innings.
Hank Robinson got the save, his 8th. Art Fromme(2-3) suffered the loss. He
gave up 6 runs and 11 hits in 9 innings.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Tim Singer said after the game. 'Caldwell did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
