Catcher Johnny Kling had 2 base hits and Christy Mathewson went 9 solid
innings as the Brooklyn Dodgers bested the Washington Nationals in 10 innings
5 to 4 at National Park.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Brooklyn was victorious in the
10th inning.  Burt Shotton led off and keyed the rally when he delivered a
single.  Smoky Joe Wood then let loose a wild pitch.  Eddie Collins then
laced a base-knock scoring a single run.  Collins took second on the throw.
Gavvy Cravath stepped in and he drew a walk.  Collins stole third and scored
when the ball ended up in the outfield scoring another baseruner.  Vic Saier
added to the rally and stroked a base-hit scoring the final run of the
inning.  Brooklyn had 11 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Mathewson(5-4) who allowed 3 runs in 9 innings. Eppa Rixey got
the save, his 6th.  Wood(4-4) was the loser in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits
and 1 walk in 1 inning.
