In a good matchup it was the St. Louis Cardinals 5, the Boston Red Sox 2 at
Sportsman's Park.

St. Louis jumped on top of Boston in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they
came up with 2 runs on 2 hits.  That was all Vic Raschi(4-1) needed.  Boston
was out-hit by St. Louis, 9 hits to 4.  

Raschi got relief help from Tom Ferrick who gained credit for his 5th save.
Sheldon Jones(1-3) took the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 7 hits in 6
innings.  

Wth the win St. Louis now has a record of 13-12.  With this loss, Boston has a
4-6 record of late, 10-15 overall.
