Bobby Thomson homered and had 2 RBI at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in 10 innings 8 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Pittsburgh
pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Mickey
Vernon initiated the scoring spurt when he slapped a base-hit.  Thomson
stepped up to the plate and he smashed a two-run homer making Pittsburgh the
victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Pittsburgh and Brooklyn
each finished the afternoon with 13 hits.  

Ellis Kinder(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Bob Buhl(2-1)
was given the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 1/3 of an
inning.  

With this win, Pittsburgh has a 15-14 record.  They have been 4-6 lately.
With the loss Brooklyn now has a record of 11-14.
