First baseman Ferris Fain launched 2 homeruns and Chuck Stobbs completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the Chicago-NL Cubs topped the
Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 3 at Crosley Field.
The Cincinnati fans didn't appreciate the big day Fain had. He stroked a
single in the 1st inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 4th inning and
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning. Chicago-NL totaled 7 hits
on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Stobbs(3-0) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Ken
