Mike Golden tossed a complete game and catcher Paddy Quinn had 2 base hits and
scored 3 times at 23rd Street Grounds as the Keokuk Westerns beat the Chicago
White Stockings by the count of 8 to 7.

Keokuk came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning plating 3 runs on 4
hits. Quinn kicked off the action when he doubled, and an error was also
committed, knocking in a run. Jimmy Hallinan came to the plate and lined a
base-hit. After an out was recorded, John Carbine then reached on an error.
Wally Goldsmith followed next and he ripped a base-knock to load the bases.
One out later, Billy Barnie came to bat and slapped a single, and an error
was also committed, which accounted for two additional runs. A wild and
woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Golden(4-4) finished the game allowing 7 runs in the victory. George
Zettlein(4-4) was given the loss. He pitched 9 innings allowing 16 hits and
no walks.
