Dick McBride had a complete game and Davy Force had 5 hits as the Philadelphia
A Athletics defeated the Brooklyn Atlantics 12 to 10 at Union
Grounds.

Brooklyn never recovered after Philadelphia A took the lead in the top of the
4th inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits.  The key offensive moment was
provided by Ezra Sutton who helped quiet the crowd when he delivered a
one-base hit plating two runs.  Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but
Philadelphia A was able to put down the rally.  

The victory went to McBride(10-4) who went the distance allowing 10 runs. Jim
Clinton(1-4) was charged with the loss.  Philadelphia A scored big getting 12
runs off him in 9 innings.
