Deacon Phillippe pitched a complete game and right fielder Lefty Davis had 2
base hits and 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Chicago Orphans by a
score of 6 to 3 at West Side Park.

Pittsburgh came up with 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning with the help of 5
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Davis who deflated the mood of the
partisan fans when he doubled which was good for two runs.  Both teams ended
up with 11 hits on the afternoon.  

Phillippe(5-1) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Jock
Menefee(1-2) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 6 runs and 11 hits in 9
innings.
