Bob Groom shutout Cleveland while allowing the Washington bullpen a day-off as
the Washington Nationals won a dandy at American League Park over the
Cleveland Naps, 1 to 0.

The game was won by Washington when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Kid Elberfeld lined a base-hit.  Willie Mitchell then uncorked a
pitch that was ruled a passed ball.  Doc Gessler then lined a one-base hit.
Bob Unglaub followed and he banged out a single resulting in an exciting win
for Washington and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Washington had 8 hits for the afternoon.  

Groom(4-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Mitchell(1-2)
took the loss.  He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned
run in his 8 innings of work.
