John Hummel went yard and had 2 RBI at Polo Grounds where the Chicago-NL Cubs
beat the New York-NL Giants 4 to 3.

Chicago-NL set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 2 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Birdie Cree who
helped quiet the crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger.  New York-NL out-hit
Chicago-NL 9 to 6, but Chicago-NL ended up with more runs.  

Eddie Plank(1-5) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Russ Ford earned the save, his 5th.  Nap Rucker(3-6) was charged with the
loss.
