At Baker Bowl the ice-cold St. Louis Cardinals were battered 8 to 3 by the
Philadelphia Phillies.

Philadelphia jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning plating one baserunner
using 2 hits.  Philadelphia kept the pressure on throughout the contest as
they scored in 6 different innings.  

Al Demaree(3-1) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Bill
Doak(2-5) was tagged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 13 hits and 4
walks in 8 innings.
