Wally Westlake hit a homerun and had 5 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Cincinnati Reds 10 to 5 at Crosley Field.
Westlake was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He belted a three-run homer in the 3rd
inning, banged out a single in the 7th inning and stroked a base-hit scoring
two baserunners in the 9th inning. Boston had 16 hits for the game and
Cincinnati had 7.
Lou Brissie(2-0) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Jack Banta earned
the save, his 4th. Preacher Roe(2-2) suffered the loss. He gave up 6 runs
in 8 innings and saw his ERA jump from 4.50 to 5.06.
