Vic Wertz had 4 hits as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies man-handled the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics - the final score was 11 to 1.

Philadelphia-NL tallied 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning with the help of 4
hits. After an out was recorded, Wertz began the Philadelphia-NL spurt when
he took charge himself, delivering a solo home run. Hank Bauer stepped up
next and he stroked a one-base hit. Earl Torgeson then ripped a base-knock,
and an error was also committed. Sherm Lollar stepped in and he singled, and
an error was also committed, as two more runners crossed the plate. That
scoring would be all that was needed. Philadelphia-NL kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Billy Loes(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing no
runs. Steve Gromek was credited with his 4th save. Vern Bickford(3-3) was
charged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.
