WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Jim Gilliam robbed Smoky Burgess of a base hit.
Top 5th: Billy Bruton robbed Minnie Minoso of a Homerun!

In a tight game it was the Brooklyn Dodgers 10, the New York-AL Yankees 8 in
10 innings at Ebbets Field.

Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Brooklyn
pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Danny O'Connell got things going
when he drew a walk. Billy Bruton stepped up to the plate and he banged out
a single. Bruton took second on the throw. After an out was recorded, Stan
Musial then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run giving Brooklyn
the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Brooklyn had 13 hits
for the game and New York-AL had 8.

Jim Hughes(2-2) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. The loss was charged to Howie Pollet(0-1) in relief. The Brooklyn
ballclub's record now stands at 13-21. With the loss, the New York-AL
ballclub's record is 18-20.
