Tricky Nichols completed the game without help from the bullpen as the St.
Louis Brown Stockings outscored the struggling Chicago White Stockings 8 to
5.

In the 6th inning St. Louis scored 4 runs when they had 7 base hits.  The
highlight belonged to Art Croft who quieted the home crowd when he hit a
single which was good for two runs.  St. Louis rapped out 12 hits for the
afternoon.  

Nichols(3-2) allowed 5 runs on the game. George Bradley(0-6) was hit with the
loss.  He surrendered 12 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.
