Catcher Buck Ewing had 6 hits as the New York Gothams staged a dramatic
comeback over the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 10 to 9 at Riverside
Park.
New York erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Dasher Troy got
things going when he singled. Frank Hankinson came to the plate and banged
out a single. Ewing then lined a one-base hit to load the bases. Roger
Connor was up next and he doubled bringing in two baserunners. A wild and
woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 7 times.
Mickey Welch(3-2) got the win allowing 9 runs in 8 innings. Tip O'Neill earned
his 1st save. George Derby(1-6) suffered the loss. He got hammered,
allowing 16 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
