Pretzels Getzien went the distance and Sam Thompson had 2 base hits and 3 RBI
as the Detroit Wolverines outscored the Philadelphia Quakers 7 to 6.

Detroit scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 base
hits.  Dan Brouthers led off the inning for Detroit when he reached on an
error.  After an out was recorded, Thompson came to the plate and reached on
an error.  Hardy Richardson then slapped a base-hit resulting in a run.
Deacon White followed next and he laced a base-knock, and an error was also
committed, driving in one more runner.  Ned Hanlon stepped into the box and
reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning.  Detroit totaled 12
hits on the afternoon.  

The win went to Getzien(4-2) who allowed 6 runs in the game. Charlie
Ferguson(4-3) took the loss.  He was touched for 12 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings.  

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Getzien, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
