George Bell blanked Chicago in a very well-pitched complete game as the
Brooklyn Superbas defeated the Chicago Cubs by a score of 1 to 0 at West Side
Park.
Bell(3-3) had a strong outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 7
hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.91 to 2.41. Chicago
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.
Orval Overall(3-3) took the loss. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and
did not allow an earned run in the game.
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Chicago's manager 'But
we have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
