Vinegar Bend Mizell(2-3), with relief help from Ellis Kinder, handcuffed the
New York-AL Yankees batters at Forbes Field in a day game.  The Pittsburgh
Pirates scored 6 runs for the win.

Mizell was in control of the game from the outset.  He allowed just 5 hits and
3 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to 2.72.  Pittsburgh ended up with 9
hits for the game while New York-AL had 6.  

Mel Parnell(2-3) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 9 hits and no walks in 8
innings.
