James Burke struck out 10 batters as the Boston Reds topped the St. Louis
Maroons in 11 innings by a score of 7 to 6 at Union Grounds.

Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings. Boston came out the
victor in the 11th inning. Tom O'Brien stroked a one-base hit. After an out
was recorded, Ed Crane came to bat and reached on an error. Tommy Bond was
next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Billy Taylor then had one get
away for a wild pitch. Lew Brown came to the plate and reached on an error
scoring the run. Despite losing, St. Louis out-hit Boston 14 to 9.

Burke(3-3), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Taylor(7-2)
was the loser. He pitched 11 innings and surrendered 9 hits and 5
walks.

'Everything felt great' Burke said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody today.'
