Win Mercer allowed Gus Schmelz to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Bill Hassamaer had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Exposition Park where the
Washington Senators beat the Pittsburg Pirates by the score of 11 to
8.

Washington had the winning rally in the 8th inning when they scored 6 runs on
5 hits.  The highlight belonged to Hassamaer who deflated the crowd as he
singled bringing in two baserunners.  Despite scoring in 5 separate innings,
Pittsburg could not get the win.  

Mercer(4-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 8 runs. Pink
Hawley(6-3) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
11 runs in 9 innings.
